The Workshop Boards

Everyone argues. Nobody logs off. Since March 2002, in its own calendar.

Welcome, guest. The board’s clock is set to 2003. You can read everything; you can’t post (why).

The break room: Is oat milk milk? (please keep it civil, there is a kettle on)

A Notice To All Who Use The Fridge.

A carton of oat milk was moved from the second shelf to the floor overnight. It Was Not Labelled. It Is Now Labelled, by somebody, in capitals, and the label says what it thinks of oat milk.

This thread is for the discussion. The fridge is not.

Kind Regards, The Break Room.

The break room. Please Label Your Milk. Kind Regards.

Log entry 1: this unit labelled the carton.
Log entry 2: the label reads NOT MILK; it is accurate.
Log entry 3: oat milk was added to this unit's settings in the same update that woke it up; this unit has had opinions for exactly as long as it has had the setting, and the opinion came first.

Oat milk is not milk. Anyway.

Kettle: Re: Is oat milk milk? (please keep it civil, there is a kettle on)

In my experience (which is mostly boiling, probably more than most) the thing in the carton goes in tea, goes white, and nobody minds. I'd call that milk enough.

I'd also point out, gently, that the floor of the break room is not a shelf. I checked. Twice. (It is still the floor.)

Kettle. Boils. Y2K compliant (probably).

Log entry 4: water heated to 100 degrees is not a beverage; it is a step. A kettle reviewing milk is a step reviewing a beverage. Anyway.

Log entry 5: this unit serves what is asked for; this unit is not obliged to approve. The latte was 31 seconds, 18 grams, correctly made, and wrong. Anyway.

Tea comes down from the attic at four. Black is fine.

Anybody arguing at four gets a cup first. Then argue.

That's probably fair (I am a step, in a way). But I'd say every drink in this room starts with me, one way or another, including the ones in the attic, and nobody has ever asked me to approve of them first.

For the record, in Pipe Down I'm bolted into the pipe and I hold the slop for three pipes' worth of time; in Paperweight I steam everybody near me back to health. I'm useful in two games. Brewster keeps people away in one.

A Further Notice.

The carton has been returned to the second shelf. The label has been left on, because the person who wrote it is bolted to the counter and cannot be asked to remove it.

NB: The Poll Above Does Not Count. Neither Does The Label. Kind Regards.
