PETITION: relocations, not sweeps (Monday is coming)

WHEREAS Monday is sweeping day under the bench, the bed and the Drawer; and WHEREAS a bunny swept is a bunny lost; and WHEREAS the long grass of the yard has room for every one of our members, and then some;

WE, the Dust Bunny Rescue League, ask that every bunny met in tidying be carried, gently, to the long grass, and never into the pan.

We also note, kindly, that the cat sat on the yard door for most of Thursday, and that three of our members waited under the bench until she went in for her tea. We hold nothing against the cat. She is a cat. We ask only that the door be left on the latch on Mondays.

Signed by the yard itself! Please bring them out by the path and turn right at the hedge: the long grass is just there, past the brick shed, and the screws in it are mostly harmless if you don't step on them.

A note from the yard on the cat: she has lain across my step every warm afternoon this month, washing one paw for an hour at a time. She is not guarding the door. She is simply the warmest thing on it.

also the cat came to my window yesterday and looked at grey for a really long time and then she went to sleep on the sill. i think she likes him?? or she was just warm

Thank you all. We count six signatures here and forty-one on the page; we are nine from our target of fifty, and we have never been closer.

We have taken dustjacket's poem for the top of the petition. We have taken the yard's note on the cat for our records: warmest thing on the step, not a guard. Our members were very relieved. Next Monday we will be at the door with a dustpan of our own, for carrying, not for sweeping.
