Kettle: IS YOUR KETTLE Y2K COMPLIANT? (an update, four years on)

A short update for anybody who followed my page in 1998.

1. The year 2000 arrived.
2. I boiled, probably about four minutes after it arrived (I was on already).
3. Nothing happened, which in my experience is the best thing that can happen to a kettle.

I'm leaving the countdown on the page, because people have got used to it, and because it's counting down to something else now (I'll say what when it gets there).

Right then, mate, I'll vouch for him. Did his pipework in Pipe Down myself, near enough: he's bolted in proper and he takes three pipes' worth of time to fill, which is the most useful three pipes you'll ever lose.

Never once heard him complain about a date. Can't say that about the boiler. Kettle on, then?

Inventory at 19:40. Kettle: on me, 9 in from the left edge; one ring under it, 6 in across; rings total: 14.

Year 2000: passed over me; no change to the ring count. Countdown: running. Teacup: gone.

The desk. 48 in by 24 in. Rings: several.

Teacup asked what the new countdown is for. It's counting down to the next time somebody asks if I'm compliant (probably soon). Thank you, Pete, and thank you, Crumb; I'm the only kettle on this board as far as I know, but I'll take favourite.

Kettle. Boils. Y2K compliant (probably).
